Letter to Residents
To: Village of Cedar Rock Residents
Subject: Declaration of a State of Emergency
Effective March 18, 2020, the Village of Cedar Rock Council adopted a Declaration of a State of Emergency prepared by Caldwell County, along with most of the other local municipalities. Please check our website to view the entire document (www.villageofcedarrock.org/mayor-council).
The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease that can result in serious illness or death, and is extremely dangerous when contracted by the elderly, or individuals with certain preexisting conditions. Every resident of the Village should follow CDC guidance to reduce chances of infection, including washing hands thoroughly and often, disinfecting surfaces where the virus might live, and avoiding groups of more than 10 people
(always keeping at least 6 feet of separation when possible). The strategy of "social distancing" is a very important component of the effort to contain and limit the spread of COVID-19. All residents are urged to limit travel and contact with others as much as possible. The State of Emergency authorizes the Caldwell Count Health Director and the Emergency Services Director to restrict travel and activities in certain areas of the County as necessary. Please check the County of Caldwell website for updates
On March 10, 2020 Governor Roy Cooper by Executive Order No 116, declared a State of Emergency for the State of North Carolina, outlining protective actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Subsequently on March 17, 2020 Governor Cooper issued Executive Order No. 118 that limits operations of restaurants and bars. A copy of Order No. 118 also is posted on the Village website. Along with other restrictions, the Order requires restaurants to close dining rooms, and limits the sale of food and beverages to carry-out, drive-through, and delivery only.
As a service and convenience for all Village of Cedar Rock residents, the Council has worked with Cedar Rock Country Club to offer carry-out and delivery of food and beverage orders during this critical time when travel and social contact must be limited to contain the spread of COVID-19. Membership in the Country Club is not required to take advantage of this food service - all VCR residents can call in orders to the Cedar Rock Grill Room for delivery or carry-out (828-758-4451 Ext. 226). A menu with pricing and delivery hours will be made available to all residents, and will be posted on the Cedar Rock Country Club website
The health and safety of our community is the highest priority of the Village of Cedar Rock Council. Please limit travel and contact with others as much as possible, and follow the recommended CDC guidelines for prevention of this very dangerous COVID-19 virus. Thank you for doing your part to keep us safe!
